What is NovLore?

NovLore is a digital writing studio for novelists: standalone novels, sagas, trilogies and series. In one place you organise your book’s structure chapter by chapter, develop characters and plot, write with a dedicated editor and — only when you want to — let artificial intelligence work alongside you.

Can I write a university thesis or other kinds of works?

Yes. Besides novels, with NovLore you can write a university thesis, a stage play, a screenplay for film or TV, a short story collection, a narrative poem or a children’s book. When you create a new work you simply pick the right category: the editor, the chapter structure, characters and plot stay the same tools, adapted to the kind of work you’re writing.

Who is NovLore for?

For fiction writers, from first-time authors to seasoned ones, who want a single tool to plan and write a novel instead of scattering notes, character sheets and drafts across different documents. No technical skills required: you write from your browser, with nothing to install.

What do I get when I sign up with the free plan?

Signing up is free and gives you a complete writing studio right away:

How does the writing editor work?

The editor lets you write chapter by chapter in a clean interface with fonts designed for reading, and saves automatically as you write. Alongside your writing you’ll find panels dedicated to the book’s structure, characters and plot, so your whole narrative world is always at hand.

Why does the editor have so few formatting tools?

It’s a deliberate choice. NovLore is not a page-layout program: you get three typefaces chosen for readability, a handful of sizes, bold, italic, underline, text alignment and the scene break. Nothing else.

A novel isn’t written by picking colours, margins and dozens of fonts: that time is time taken away from the story, and every extra tool is one more temptation to tidy up the look of the page instead of writing the next scene.

The visual side comes later, once the book is finished: you download the text in Word, HTML, Markdown or TXT, or move on to our dedicated layout editor. Here only one thing counts: writing.

Can I insert images into the book?

No, the writing editor only handles text, like the rest of writing in NovLore: you can't upload or see images while you write.

If you’re writing an illustrated work — a children’s book, for example — you can still mark where an illustration will go with a placeholder in the text, such as “[Figure 1]” or “[Image: the boy runs through the forest]”: it’s the same convention used in publishing to leave instructions for whoever does the layout. The actual images are uploaded later, once the book is finished, in the dedicated layout editor.

How does book layout work?

Layout is a step separate from writing, meant for a manuscript that is truly finished. From your book library you’ll find the “Mark as finished” action: from that moment the text (chapters and structure) can no longer be edited, and the Config panel unlocks access to an editor dedicated only to layout. If you change your mind, “Reopen for editing” lifts the lock and closes layout access again, until you mark the book as finished once more.

In the layout editor you choose a template, upload the book’s images and generate the layout: you can arrange it yourself, chapter by chapter, or let artificial intelligence propose a first arrangement based on the text and the placeholders you left while writing.

A practical tip: while you write, save your images in a folder on your computer with a name that shows straight away which chapter they belong to — for example 01-photo1.jpg, 01-photo2.jpg, 02-photo1.jpg… (two-digit chapter number plus a running number for that chapter’s photos). By the time you reach layout, they’re already in order, and you can tell at a glance which chapter each one belongs to.

How many languages can I write in?

You can write your book in 31 languages, including regional variants such as American English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Canadian French. When you use AI, suggestions arrive in the language of your book.

The site interface is available in Italian, English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Indonesian.

Can I lose what I write?

The editor saves automatically as you write. Before applying any change suggested by the AI, NovLore keeps a copy of the previous text, and you can also save a version manually: an AI intervention never makes you lose what you had written.

If you delete a book or chapter by mistake, it goes to the trash and can be recovered within 30 days.

Can I let someone read my book before publishing it?

Yes. You can generate a private reading link for your beta readers: whoever receives it reads the book in the browser, no account needed. The link expires, so you stay in control of who reads and for how long.

What is the role of artificial intelligence in NovLore?

AI is an assistant, not an author. It is there to generate ideas through chat, correct spelling and suggest improvements to the text you have written.

The author always remains at the centre of the writing: AI steps in only when you call on it, and every suggestion must be accepted by you — nothing changes in your book without an explicit action on your part.

What is Spark? And what do we mean by writing assistant?

Spark is your personal assistant inside NovLore. It's not a simple chat: it understands the context of your work — active chapter, characters, plot — and knows what kind of help to give you. Correcting, rewriting, developing an idea: for every task, it knows what to do and who to call on.

When we talk about a writing assistant, we mean the artificial intelligence engines NovLore makes available: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini. Each one specialises in something different: one is extremely fast at corrections, another excels at creative rewriting, another still has the perfect overview for complex plots.

Spark is the link between you and these assistants: it automatically chooses which one to activate, based on what you asked for. You don't need to configure anything, you don't need to worry about which model to use. Spark does it for you. You just keep writing.

What is Spark, and how does it decide which writing assistant to use?

Spark is NovLore’s writing assistant, built to understand the context of your work — chapter, characters, plot — and give you the right kind of help.

Every task has its own needs: correcting calls for speed, rewriting calls for creativity, developing a plot calls for a broad overview. Spark recognises the difference and automatically selects the most suitable writing assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini).

You don't have to choose between models, you don't have to worry about configuration: you write, you ask, and Spark does the rest. It's the engine — you just keep writing, without interruption.

Does the AI write the book for me?

No. NovLore is built around the writer: the voice, the narrative choices and the text belong to the author. AI offers focused support — an idea to unblock a scene, a spelling correction, a suggested improvement to a passage you select — but the book is the fruit of your work.

If I use AI to write, do I need to disclose it somewhere?

It depends on where you’ll use the text, not on NovLore. For a novel you publish the normal way, there’s no obligation to disclose it: it’s like using a proofreading tool or asking a friend for an idea — the book remains yours.

But if you hand in the text somewhere with its own rules — a university thesis, a school assignment, a scientific journal — that context may ask you to disclose it, not NovLore: those are its rules, and they apply whether you wrote with NovLore or with any other AI chat. The more you review and make the AI’s suggestions your own, the less the question even arises.

Which artificial intelligences does NovLore work with?

NovLore relies on the best artificial intelligences available — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and others — using the most suitable model for each task. If a provider is unreachable, another takes over automatically, with no interruption for the writer.

Are my texts private? Does the AI train on them?

Your content is private and visible only to you. Data is sent to an artificial intelligence provider only when you voluntarily activate an AI feature, and only to process that specific request. If you don’t use AI, your texts are never sent to any external provider.

Are the AI features paid?

Yes: when you want a hand with your writing, an AI assistant is there for you, and credits are simply what powers it — no subscription. Writing, book organisation, characters and downloads always stay free and unlimited.

How do credits work?

Signing up is free and the writing studio is complete from day one. Artificial intelligence features are unlocked with credits, bought in packs of different sizes with a single payment.

No subscription, no automatic renewal, nothing to remember to cancel: you top up when you need to. Every operation shows how many credits it costs before it starts, and your remaining balance is always visible as you write.

Do credits expire?

Credits stay valid for 12 months from the top-up. If you top up more than once, the credits closest to expiring are used first, so you lose nothing as long as you write regularly.

The expiry date is always shown in your Account area, with a warning when it approaches.

What happens if I run out of credits?

You lose nothing. Your books, chapters, structure, characters and downloads stay accessible and free as always: only the AI assistant pauses, and it resumes with a new top-up.

Can I get a refund for credits I haven’t used?

Yes. We refund unused credits within 30 days of purchase, no explanation needed. In the first 20 days the refund is full; from day 21 to day 30 we withhold a 10% handling fee, calculated on the amount refunded to you, not on the original purchase.

Do I need a subscription?

No. NovLore has no subscriptions: the account is free and artificial intelligence features are paid as you go with credits, in single purchases. There is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.

Your books remain yours and stay where they are either way, and downloading is always possible.

Who owns the book I write on NovLore?

The author, always. The owner of the book is the person who writes it, not the website: NovLore claims no rights over the books, chapters, characters or notes you create.

Intellectual property and copyright remain entirely yours; the platform processes your content only to the technical extent needed to provide the service (saving it, showing it to you, letting you download it). Details are in the Terms of Service.

Can I download my book?

Yes — always, on any plan, including the free one. You can download your book in TXT, Markdown, Word and HTML formats at any time: your texts are never locked into the platform.

How do I sign in? Do I need a password?

No password to remember: sign in with a one-time code you receive by email, or with your Google account.

Which devices does NovLore work on?

NovLore is a web application: it runs in the browser on computers, tablets and smartphones, with nothing to install. Your texts are saved to your account and you’ll find them on any device you sign in from.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, by writing to [email protected]. Access is blocked immediately, but for 30 days your account stays fully recoverable — books, chapters, versions and characters all in place — in case you change your mind.

After that period your data is permanently deleted; if you prefer immediate deletion, you can request it explicitly. Remaining credits do not survive permanent deletion: if you want a refund, ask for it before closing the account.

Is there a minimum age to use NovLore?

Yes, NovLore is reserved for people 18 or older. We ask you explicitly the first time you sign in, and creating an account means you declare you meet the minimum age.

Is NovLore available yet? How can I try it?

Yes: you can already sign up for free and start using the editor, book structure, characters, plot, dashboard and text downloads right away, with no time limit.
